The playlist below is a collection of candidate songs for Restless Rock, a project in a certain 70s California vibe. Most of these were rendered using Suno.com, which was given source audio (demos and previous versions) along with updated lyrics and a detailed prompt to produce the tracks within stylistic guides. All the lyrics and melody were produced by myself and you, dear cowriters. Although the AI does misinterpret some of the progressions or inflections, it still does an amazing job at iterating song versions.
I am presenting all of you with the overview so you if your like you can get a sense of the project: the overall sound and feel of what will be an album in the classic rock sense. These demos do not necessarily represent the final version intended for each track, as the vocals and in most cases the instrumentation are to be replaced. Suno served as a tool for providing an example recording in a given style or genre (and it provides stems for remixing). They could just as easily have been jazz, marching band, or ska. They also don’t represent the final track order, and as you’ll notice the total number of tracks will need to be slimmed.
For those tracks that are cowrites (listed below) and have not yet been released, I would need your approval to publish them in this form. Even for those that have been released (this would be a cover), I still seek your blessing to go forward with these versions.
Any songs for which I can’t get approval will be removed from consideration. I do expect to do some fine tuning of lyrics and arrangement, but if changes end up veering the song far from the theme, it will be more prudent to omit it.
Going through these songs again has reminded me what a joy it is to collaborate with you all. I look forward to finishing up these recordings and releasing them as Restless Rock, and I am thankful for every note.
